We put some mirrored tint film on the windows over the weekend, finishing the job today. It has made the house 5C cooler in the afternoon sun without being ridiculously dark either in normal day light.
Fiddly and a bit pricey compared to other films but boy was it worth the hassle. The dogs and the humans are less cranky
How'd the application go Mike? Any bubbles?
Do you think it'll trap warmth inside in winter or just continue to reduce solar?
Just saw on the news this was the sunniest spring in over 100y

I guess we'll find out when winter comes about heat being kept in. It should help that a little in theory but the house is never cold anyway, the insulation in the walls and roof space is very efficient.
Application was straight forward enough but I have used similar before to do car windows. Lots of soapy water is required, literally drench it and the window or it will stick to itself.
There were some bubbles but they were fairly easy to get rid of, I used an old library card for that it's better than a rubber squeegee
